The state Department of Labor said it has approved federal assistance eligibility for 142 3M Purification employees who will lose their jobs this year when the company’s Enfield plant closes.
The Trade Adjustment Assistance Program provides training, wage, healthcare and relocation subsidies and assistance for employees who lose their jobs because of foreign trade.
The 3M workers were certified for benefits last month, but DOL made its announcement on Tuesday. The agency is mailing notices to the affected employees containing information on how to apply for the benefits.
