Carolyn Kuan is taking over as music director of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
Kuan is scheduled to address HSO musicians, staff, board members and major donors at a 1 p.m. reception in the Great Hall at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.
Kuan signed a three-year contract to run the 68-year-old symphony full time, beginning with its 2011-2012 season that begins in September.Â
She succeeds Edward Cumming, who has served as music director since fall 2002 and ends his HSO tenure this June.Â
