Kruger to take helm as UConn board chair

Thomas E. Kruger of Greenwich will serve as the new UConn Board of Trustees chairman, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced.

Malloy appointed Kruger to succeed Larry McHugh, who earlier this year announced his intention not to pursue another six-year term as chairman.

Kruger is a partner in the corporate practice of the international law firm of Paul Hastings LLP and is based in the firm’s New York office. He has served as a member of the UConn Board of Trustees since 2011. He also has chaired the board’s financial affairs committee for the past four years, Malloy said.

“Tom has a firm grasp on the vital role that UConn has in Connecticut as an economic driver for our state,” Malloy said.
