Kark Krapek, the chairman of the Connecticut State University systems board of trustees has resigned, The Associated Press reports.
Krapek, a former president and chief operating officer of United Technologies Corp., said in a letter that he was stepping down to allow new Gov. Dannel P. Malloy to make his own appointment to the position.
Krapek had served on the board for Central, Eastern, Southern and Western Connecticut State Universities for 16 years.
Malloy spokeswoman Colleen Flanagan says the governor did not ask for Krapek’s resignation.
The board came under fire last year after approving hefty raises for top administrators in the system, and later rescinded those raises at the request of then-Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
