The Koch brothers are no longer pursuing a purchase of the Tribune Co., which owns the Hartford Courant, the Associated Press reported Friday.
Brothers Charles and David Koch said they are exploring other media opportunities, the AP said.
Koch Industries, run by the billionaire brothers Charles and David, said Friday that it is still interested in the media and is exploring a broad range of opportunities.
The Tribune announced in December that it planned to sell its newspapers.

The Hartford City Council passed a resolution this month opposing the potential Koch takeover, saying it would undermine objective news coverage in Hartford.
