Wethersfield digital-payments vendor Payveris formed a new merchants solutions division and hired a former Glastonbury bank-payments executive to run it.
Payveris said Monday Marcell L. King will oversee the division as president and be responsible for building and deploying next generation payment solutions for online, mobile, and brick-and-mortar merchants. Launched in 2011, Payveris serves more than 28 banks and credit unions in the U.S.
King previously was with InComm, formerly Giftango, an Atlanta provider of prepaid phone and gift cards and other transaction technologies, products and services.
For a time, starting in 2001, King, according to an online bio, was sales vice president at Open Solutions Inc., the Glastonbury provider of data processing and payment services to the banking industry. Open Solutions sold for nearly $1 billion to Fiserv in January 2013.
Open Solutions’ co-founder and serial tech entrepreneur Luis Hernandez is one of Payveris’ major financial backers.
