Kiducation buys Hamden building for $585K

Kiducation, known for its large white used clothing drop-off bins around the state, is moving from New Haven to Hamden after buying an industrial building in town for $585,000, brokers said.

Community Crusade for Children Inc., the nonprofit that operates Kiducation, bought the 19,000-square-foot building at 2115 State St. from 2135 State Street LLC, according to brokers.

Founded in 1996, Kiducation collects clothing for local and global causes and also sells some to raise money for schools, libraries, day cares, camps and other programs, according to the nonprofit’s website.

The nonprofit channels some of the funds back into the communities where the bins are located, the website said.
