Kelly Challenge Presents Checks

The June 8 Tribute to Peter Kelly event did more than honor a single figure in Hartford’s legal and political community. The event also raised $269,000 for various charitable and civic causes in the region. Presenting a check to the Central Connecticut State University Foundation are, from left, Kelly; Jack Miller, president of CCSU; Nikki O’Neill, former First Lady of Connecticut, and Francisco Borges, general co-chair of the Peter Kelly Tribute. CCSU plans to use the money for the Gov. William A. O’Neill Endowed Chair in Public Policy and Practical Politics. Also receiving checks were Connecticut Public Broadcasting, for its children’s programming; International Foundation for Electoral Systems for its Women’s Empowerment Programs, and the Malta House of Care Foundation. Kelly, a founder of the Updike, Kelly and Spellacy law firm, presented the checks July 27 at the Hartford Club.
