Connecticut natural gas provider Yankee Gas reminds all of its customers – and natural gas users everywhere – to keep their outdoor natural gas meters and water heater, appliance and furnace vents free of snow and ice this winter season.
As many heating systems and appliances shut off when not venting properly, keeping the ice and snow away from the vents is key to continued heat and hot water.
When brushing away the snow and ice, Yankee Gas suggests not kicking the vent, as that can also lead to service troubles.
Yankee Gas is a subsidiary of Hartford-based Northeast Utilities.
