The bearings unit of Bloomfield aerospace manufacturer Kaman Corp. signed with a Chelmsford, Mass., specialty materials firm to use its technology in making lightweight aerospace components.
Kaman Specialty Bearings (KSB) and Triton Systems Inc. will team up to use Triton’s fiber reinforced aluminum composite — branded as FRA — in products to be designed and made by KSB’s two divisions — Kamatics Corp. and RWG Frankenjura-Industrie Flugwerklager GMBH, of Dachsbach, Germany
The deal was announced Wednesday at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Kaman Specialty’s bearings are used in helicopter transmissions and landing gear.
Triton’s niche is in advanced materials, coatings and engineering systems.
Founded in 1992, it has three locations in Massachusetts, a coatings facility in North Dakota, a life science group in Berkeley, Calif., and a manufacturing site in Domat-EMS, Switzerland.
