Kaman Aerosystems, a division of Bloomfield aerospace manufacture Kaman Corp., has sold out its initial production of 10 K-MAX helicopters.
The latest order for the K-MAX came from Oregon’s Columbia Basin Helicopters at the Helitech International Helicopter Expo & Conference in London, said Drake Klotzman, general manager of Kaman’s air vehicles, maintenance, repair and overhaul division.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Columbia Basin Helicopters Inc. of La Grande, Oregon, has been operating for more than 20 years. Primary operations include aerial application and firefighting.
The K-MAX will be delivered to Columbia Basin in 2018, Klotzman said.
Recent demand for the K-MAX helicopters has fueled the aircraft’s journey back into production. In May, Kaman announced the first successful flight of its relaunched bird, which is used by loggers, construction contractors, farmers, even the U.S. Marines.
