Bloomfield aerospace manufacturer Kaman Corp. announced it received another order for its K-MAX medium-to-heavy-lift helicopters, marking the 13th such order since it was put back into production in 2015.
Austrian firm Heli Air-Swiss, a member of Heli-Austria of St. Johann, ordered the helicopter, which is billed as a low-maintenance aircraft that can carry up to 6,000 pounds, Kaman said.
“We are excited to welcome Heli-Austria, a new operator in the European market to the K-MAX family,” said Darlene Smith, vice president and general manager of Kaman Air Vehicles Division.
The K-MAX first received Federal Aviation Administration approval in 1994, but Kaman ended production of the helicopter in 2003, after having built 38 of them. The company re-started production in 2015, after receiving 10 orders for the K-MAX.
