Kaman receives $10.6M missile fuze contract with Lockheed Martin

Bloomfield aerospace and medical device component maker Kaman Corp. received a contract worth about $10.6 million to make missile fuzes for Maryland-based defense manufacturer Lockheed Martin Corp.

The contract between Kaman Precision Products and Lockheed is a continuation of a current Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile contract between the two, for which Kaman provides fuzes, according to the Bloomfield manufacturer. The new contract runs from 2021 — when the current contract expires — to 2023.

“We have made significant investments and operational improvements in our missile fuzing business due in large part to the continued growth we have seen for these offerings,” said Jerry Ricketts, Kaman Precision Products’ president.

The contract comes as Kaman undergoes a leadership change. New Kaman President Ian Walsh stepped into his new role on Tuesday, when former President Neal Keating officially retired. Walsh most recently served as chief operating officer of Wisconsin speciality vehicle maker REV Group Inc.
