Kaman nears $120M New Zealand helicopter sale

The aerospace subsidiary of Bloomfield manufacturer Kaman Corp. is working toward finalizing a $120 million deal to supply New Zealand with 10 helicopters and spare parts, the company announced Friday.

Kaman Aerospace Corp. began negotiating with New Zealand in June after receiving permission from the U.S. Department of State to sell up to 11 Super Seasprite helicopters.

The final deal for 10 Seasprites includes spare parts, a flight simulator, and logistics support is set for completion within weeks, Kaman spokesman Eric Remington said in an email Friday.

The Seasprites replaces New Zealand’s current fleet of helicopters, providing the highest power-to-weight ratio of any maritime helicopter.
