Bloomfield aero- and industrial-parts maker Kaman Corp. has inked a new deal that will help sell its K-MAX medium-to-heavy lift helicopters to customers in the Middle East.
Kaman’s Air Vehicles division has signed a distribution agreement with Trust International Group, an Abu Dhabi-based company that distributes and maintains defense products in the Middle East.
As part of the deal, Trust International will sell the K-MAX to buyers in the Middle East, according to Kaman.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
“Our partnership with Trust International will open up new opportunities for us and expand our K-MAX helicopter footprint to the Middle East,” Roger Wassmuth, senior director business development at Kaman Air Vehicles said.
In October, Kaman Corp. announced it had received a total of 13 orders for the K-MAX since it was put back into production.
The K-MAX first received Federal Aviation Administration approval in 1994, but Kaman ended production of the helicopter in 2003, after having built 38 of them. The company re-started production in 2015, after receiving 10 orders for the K-MAX.
