Bloomfield manufacturer Kaman Corp. says it has a fresh $24.2 million Air Force order for fuzes for bombs carried aloft by U.S. warplanes.
Kaman said Wednesday this follow-on order for its joint programmable fuzes brings its outstanding order backlog to $149.2 million.
Only months earlier, Kaman was forced to halt fuze production to fix quality problems with the arming mechanisms for guided bombs and other ordnance mounted aboard jet fighters and bombers.
Kaman makes the fuzes at plants in Middletown and Orlando, Fla.
