Our Mission: Junior Achievement empowers young people to own their economic success.


Junior Achievement provides programs during the school day and after school for students in kindergarten through high school that focus on financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship. JA’s programs are delivered by volunteers from business and the community who work side by side with classroom teachers to prepare and inspire students for future success. 

Goals

• Virtualize all program delivery models and special events

• Increase financial resources and number of virtual volunteer opportunities

• Develop plan for and launch of either JA Inspire Virtual or JA Finance Park Virtual 

• Increase awareness of JA’s mission and success in preparing young people for the future

How has the COVID-19 pandemic impacted your organization? How have your organization’s fundraising efforts, giving opportunities and volunteer opportunities changed as a result? 

With schools limiting external visitors in the classroom and operating under differing schedules (in-person, hybrid, virtual), we are committed to virtualizing and digitizing all of JA’s K-12 curriculum in an effort to meet students, teachers and parents where they are. In addition, we continue to pivot and innovate through virtualizing all of our special events. Though FY21 will certainly look different for JA, our commitment to schools and our students has not and will not change.

How have the services you provide to the community changed in response to the COVID’s impact? Have you developed new and far-reaching services/support? 

We will be providing virtual volunteer opportunities to still ensure students are receiving JA’s critical financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programming, while simultaneously helping schools maintain their important school-business partnership with hundreds of local companies. Additionally, we have created JA Responds — a series of round table discussions aimed at addressing important community issues, such as: challenges of remote learning and disparities in education for minority students. We are excited to explore the possibility of JA Inspire Virtual or JA Finance Park Virtual, two highly impactful programs that will allow students to deeply explore career opportunities and personal finance.
