• Middlesex Hospital in Middletown opened its new Whelen Emergency Pavilion that includes three zones: the acute care area, express care area and emergency crisis area. The $33 million project designed by the S/L/A/M Collaborative will provide increased safety and efficiency for patients.

 

• Bluefoot Entertainment in West Hartford received a Bronze Award in the sports opener and titles category and Silver Award in the editing: promo spot category from the New York Festivals 2008 International TV Broadcasting Awards. The company was recognized for two NASCAR tease segments produced for ESPN.

• Mercy Community Health in West Hartford received a $90,000 grant from the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority for a new central telemonitoring system.

 

• Phyllis Atkins was named Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s number one sales associate in Northern Connecticut for 2007. Atkins, a sales associate in the West Hartford office, achieved the greatest sales volume among all sales associates in the Northern Connecticut region.

• Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts awarded $9,000 to Beat the Street Community Center Inc. in Meriden; $10,000 to Covenant to Care for Children in Bloomfield; and $5,000 to the Connecticut Youth Leadership Project Inc. in Glastonbury.
