JPMorgan Chase plans to continue its Greater Hartford expansion with a new branch in Vernon.
The Wall Street money-center bank has filed an application with the federal Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to open a bank in Vernon’s Tri City Plaza shopping center.
JPMorgan Chase has been steadily expanding its presence in Greater Hartford and Connecticut in recent years and was one of the biggest deposit gainers in the state in 2021-22.
Chase Bank added $1.4 billion in deposits from June 2021 to June 2022, a 16% increase. It’s the fourth-largest bank in Connecticut, owning 5.7% of all deposits, FDIC data shows.

Since 2019 Chase Bank has added at least 10 branches in Connecticut with plans to open five more in 2023 and beyond.
