Journey Home

Mission: Journey Home’s mission is to foster a caring community that ensures a home for all. Journey Home gives life to that mission through encouraging collaboration, facilitating innovation, and advocating for justice.

Background: Based in Hartford, but serving a 29-town region, Journey Home Inc. was founded in 2007 to spearhead the implementation of the Capitol Region’s Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness. In its work to end homelessness, Journey Home coordinates and supports city, town and state government, community based service organizations, local businesses, the faith-based community, academia, advocates and individuals who themselves have experienced or are at risk of homelessness. Major Fundraiser: Journey Home welcomes both individual and corporate donations as well as in-kind contributions. Specific fundraising priorities include support for the Moving On Initiative that looks to move 25 chronically homeless individuals into permanent housing. A donation of approximately $4,000 could move one person into permanent supportive housing. Additionally, Journey Home is in need of an LCD projector for community presentations.

Volunteer Needs: Journey Home needs ambassadors to discuss its mission at various networking and business events as well as community outreach and awareness assistance. The organization has the ability to place volunteers interested in donating time to shelters and supportive housing programs.
