Jorden Burt, a Miami law firm with a Simsbury office, is merging with fellow Florida firm Carlton Fields, they announced.
Jorden Burt has 13 attorneys in Simsbury and more than 70 across its other offices in Miami and Washington, D.C., according to its website.
Carlton Fields has approximately 300 attorneys in Florida, Atlanta and New York City.
For a transition period leading to the early 2014 expected closing date, the combined firms will be called Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, and will be led by Carlton CEO Gary Sasso.
Sasso said in a statement that the firms are a natural fit because they both have strong national practices in class-action defense and litigation.
Jim Jorden, managing partner of Jorden Burt, will serve on the combined firm’s executive committee.
