Jones Lang to analyze Preston’s Riverwalk

The town of Preston has hired real estate broker-manager Jones Lang LaSalle to analyze the economic development and marketing potential of its planned Riverwalk project on what was the campus of a former mental hospital.

The Preston Redevelopment Agency said Thursday that Jones Lang, with offices in downtown Hartford, has begun work with civil and environmental consulting engineering firm Fuss & O’Neill Inc. to produce a master regulating plan the 390-acre riverfront site.

Jones Lang LaSalle Senior Vice President and Project Manager Eamon O’Marah will lead his team that includes: Managing Director Michael Smith, Senior Vice President Michael Connelly, Vice President Michael Lamphier, and analyst Rebecca Herbst.

The former Norwich State Hospital site fronts the Thames River, and is just across the river from Mohegan Sun Casino. It also has views to Long Island Sound.

The town purchased the the site in 2009 from the state.
