Following a $6 million expansion and renovation project, Johnson Memorial Hospital officials on Wednesday celebrated the revamped Karen Davis Krzynowek Cancer Center at its Enfield campus.
Construction started 14 months ago and added 5,500 square feet to the center’s existing footprint, according to hospital officials.
Several hospital administrators and area dignitaries were slated to attend a ribbon cutting and celebration Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Johnson Memorial’s Enfield campus on Hazard Avenue.
The project brings all of the hospital’s outpatient cancer services to one location. Patients can now get all services, from radiation and medical oncology to physician visits, in one spot.

The revamped center now features new oncology infusion bays that feature privacy screening, televisions for individual use, and space for family and friends to visit.
“This important project will increase coordination of care by bringing all of Johnson’s outpatient cancer care programs into one collaborative space, and at the same time, improve the patient experience with increased privacy in a first-class, calm, and comfortable environment,” said Dr. Robert Roose, chief administrative officer for Johnson Memorial Hospital. “We are confident that these improvements will ease the cancer journey for many individuals in the greater Enfield community.”
The project is part of a larger $40 million expansion and renovation project designed to create an outpatient services hub at the hospital’s multi-building Enfield campus. Overall, the project, being built by Hartford-based Consigli Construction, will add 38,000 square feet, and includes not only the cancer center expansion, but a new and upgraded surgery center, four operating rooms, additional medical office space, new and expanded lab services, primary care, exam rooms and specialty suites.
Johnson Memorial is a 92-bed hospital on Chestnut Hill Road in Stafford Springs, and it has been part of Trinity Health Of New England since 2016.
