Johnson Memorial gets new governance, organizational structure

On the heels of its emergence from bankruptcy late last year, the board of directors of Johnson Memorial Medical Center has approved a new governance and organizational structure for the company.

The changes for JMMC, which emerged from Ch. 11 bankruptcy in October, include consolidating its five boards of directors to a single nine-to-13-member board, and merging certain provider functions.

Under the new single board model, each member will be appointed for one to three years and up to 25 percent of board positions will be filled by physicians.

Current board members include Gary J. Roman, Patrick Mahon, James M. Makuch, Evelyne A. Parizek, James A. Baum, Richard P. Dobson, Sr., John T. Larabee, Joan C. Smith, and John Patton, who was newly appointed.

In addition, JMMC’s new organizational structure includes three entities: Johnson Memorial Hospital, Evergreen Health Care Center (EHCC) and Home & Community Health Services (H&CHS).

The functions of JMMC’s additional entities have been absorbed into the hospital and Johnson Professional Associates (JPA), which is a physician group that is controlled but not owned by JMMC.
