Joey Garlic’s bows in Manchester

Joey Garlic’s restaurant has opened its latest Connecticut eatery in the former Carrabba’s Italian Grill space next to Manchester’s The Shoppes at Buckland Hills mall, brokers say.

Landlord Y-Cee Manchester LLC leased the 5,800-square-foot restaurant at 31 Redstone Road to Joey Garlic’s, according to exclusive broker New England Retail Properties LLC in Wethersfield.

The space had been vacant since Carrabba’s shut in Feb. 2017.

Joey Garlic’s specializes in gourmet pizza, grinders and Italian dinners.

Anthony Sullo and partners Gary Gello and Nick Romano co-founded the franchise’s first location on Route 6 in Farmington in 2007 and opened the Newington location at 150 Kitts Lane in 2008.

The group opened Joey’s Pizza Pie in 2011 on Park Road in West Hartford, however, the owners split in 2016.

Sullo and Gello operate the restaurants in Manchester, West Hartford and Newington. Romano manages the Farmington restaurant he rebranded as Mama Luke’s Restaurant and Pizzeria.
