JetBlue adding Bradley nonstop to San Juan

JetBlue Airways announced today the discount carrier will fly non-stop between Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks and San Juan, Puerto Rico, starting in January.

The once-a-day flight wull be JetBlue’s third non-stop destination out of Bradley, after the company started flying out of Connecticut in November with Florida nonstops to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.

“Thanks to the support we have received from both Puerto Rican and Connecticut travelers, JetBlue is able to add more options and destinations to the places our customers want to go,” said Dave Clark, director of network planning for JetBlue Airways, in a press release. ” We look forward to expanding our network in both cities, and earning each new loyal customer one flight at a time.”

JetBlue is the second airline to fly non-stop between Connecticut and San Juan. American Airlines also operates a non-stop out of Bradley to Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico is a growing market for JetBlue; its 250 weekly departures from the island make JetBlue the largest carrier in the commonwealth. Clark said the connection to Connecticut was a solid fit, and Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy agreed with him.

“Our state has special ties to Puerto Rico, so this is very welcome news,” Malloy said in a press release. “We have built a solid partnership with JetBlue and today’s announcement strengthens that bond. When we expand travel options for our customers, everyone benefits — and the region’s economy improves.”
