JCJ Architecture acquires Los Angeles firm

A major Hartford architecture firm has expanded to the West Coast with the acquisition of a Los Angeles firm.

JCJ Architecture today announced it acquired Los Angeles-based Randall/Baylon Architect, Inc., a full-service planning, architecture and interior-design firm. The combination establishes JCJ’s presence in Los Angeles and supports the firm’s continued focus on expanding its design and management capabilities across the western United States.

No financial details were released.

With nearly 35 years of experience, R/BA, focuses on the design of education, hospitality, commercial (including retail, health and medical) and residential building projects. JCJ said the move is part of its growth as a national practice.

R/BA’s project portfolio, according to the announcement, complements JCJ’s current market sectors and bolsters the firm’s expertise in retail, health and residential projects. The firm’s work includes a significant number of projects for both the L.A. Unified School District and the University of Southern California. Hector Baylon and Donald Randall, co-owners of R/BA, will continue to lead the office’s day-to-day operations and maintain their design and project management activities.

Founded in 1936, JCJ is headquartered in Hartford with offices in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and San Diego. JCJ recently announced they were relocating to Hartford’s Colt building.
