The Hartford area’s 2016 home sales are off to an unusually strong start, with unit sales and prices both rising in January, Realtors say.
There were 631 single-family dwellings sold last month vs. 543 in January 2015 – a 6.4 percent gain, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors said Thursday.
Median price for those homes was $199,950 last month vs. $187,850 a year earlier.
The region’s January condo sales rose 4.2 percent to 149 units vs. 142 a year ago, the association said.
Median condo sale price was $143,000 vs. $142,500 a year ago.
“January makes three consecutive months of increases in the median sales price, making this is a solid start to the year for the Greater Hartford housing market,” said GHAR President and CEO Jeff Arakelian.
