Jaigantic Studios, a Shelton-based company with big plans for a movie-making complex in New Haven, announced two new deals in recent days.
Jaigantic, currently headquartered at 10 Constitution Boulevard in Shelton, purchased Hawthorne Books and Literary Arts of Portland, Ore., the company announced on Friday. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The acquisition is part of Jaigantic’s content strategy toward building a pipeline of film projects, executives told Daily Variety.
Hawthorne, an independent publisher of fiction and nonfiction, has optioned several books for film projects by authors including “Saturday Night Live” alumKristin Wiig.
In another deal, Michael Jai White, Jaigantic Studios’ founder, said Monday he would team up with on-demand fitness company PlankkStudio to launch a training app for martial arts students.
The platform allows users to train with White at all levels to build their skills and supplement formal martial arts training.
Meanwhile, Jaigantic’s plans for a studio complex in Fair Haven are still awaiting the finalization of a development and land disposition agreement (DLDA) with New Haven for city-owned property at 46-56 River St.
