The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) announced Tuesday afternoon that Mitchell Kennedy, a veteran of the life sciences industry, will serve as its executive vice president and president of JAX Mice, Clinical and Research Services (JMCRS).
Officials said Kennedy, who will take over the role on April 10, will rotate his time between the organization’s three U.S. offices in Farmington; Bar Harbor, Maine; and Sacramento, California. JAX also has a presence in Japan and China.
JAX said Kennedy, in his role with JMCRS, will lead product development, business development, business unit management, marketing, field representation and customer support.
Kennedy will oversee a division where animal model research takes place. JAX said about 2,400 organizations in 68 countries rely on the services provided by JMCRS in a wide range of therapeutic areas.
Kennedy has more than two decades of experience in senior leadership roles in the field, most recently serving at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he oversaw more than 6,000 employees and was responsible for revenue as large as $2 billion.
JAX is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution with nearly 3,000 employees globally.
