IT jobs declined in March but not all is glum

Connecticut IT job postings declined 8.5 percent in March, despite a modest increase in hiring activity seen the previous month. However, employer caution is not the case in every industry, according to the April Skillproof IT Jobs Report produced by the Connecticut Technology Council.

The report said a closer look at the March statistics shows an encouraging trend in the state’s tech and scientific job market in the professional services sector, where growth is gaining momentum, reaching its highest employment activity levels since 2001.

Year over year, job postings fell 34 percent, declining from 850 in March 2015 to 560 in March 2016.

More IT openings were also listed in March for financial services businesses but they have not reached levels hit before the Great Recession.
