Israeli air carrier El Al signed a $70 million extension with Pratt & Whitney Co. to oversee engine maintenance on El Al’s fleet of Boeing 767s and 747s, Pratt said today.
The five-year extension with Pratt’s Global Service Partners unit includes a provision for El Al to lengthen the contract by another five years, Pratt said.
El Al was established in 1948 as the national Israel Airlines.
Separately, Pratt announced a 10-year exclusive engine maintenance service agreement with Dutch air passenger and cargo carrier Martinair. Pratt will maintain Martinair’s fleet of Pratt commercial jet engines. Â
Terms of that deal, an expansion of a 2005 contract, were not disclosed.
Pratt announced both deals today from the global airline industry’s 2009 Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Show in Hamburg, Germany.
