Israeli clinical-stage biotech BioBlast Pharma Ltd. said it has established a U.S. headquarters in New Haven.
BioBlast is developing therapies for rare and ultra-rare genetic diseases. Its lead clinical candidate is Cabaletta, a treatment for Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy that the company said will enter Phase 3 clinical trials this year in the U.S. and Canada.
BioBlast, which went public last year and trades on the Nasdaq, established the office at 157 Church St., which is the 26-story Connecticut Financial Center tower.
In February, BioBlast appointed Colin Foster president and CEO. Foster was previously CEO of New Haven-based Optherion Inc. and president and CEO of Bayer Pharmaceuticals Corp. USA. He also founded a life sciences advisory firm out of his Woodbridge home in 2011.
“This is a big step forward for us as we establish our corporate headquarters with a view to connecting ever more so with patients, physicians, and investors in the U.S.,” Foster said in a statement.
