Islanders plan to relocate AHL affiliate from Bridgeport to Canada

The New York Islanders plan to relocate their American Hockey League affiliate from Bridgeport to Hamilton, Ontario, beginning with the 2026-27 season, the team announced Thursday.

The move requires approval from the AHL Board of Governors.

The franchise will play in Hamilton’s TD Coliseum, an 18,000-seat arena that recently completed a $300 million renovation and is operated by Oak View Group.

The Islanders have operated their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport for 25 years, most recently as the Bridgeport Islanders. Team officials said they will work with the city on a transition plan for Total Mortgage Arena.
