Iron Mountain completes Windsor solar build

Massachusetts data storage provider Iron Mountain said it’s completed a 902-panel solar array on the roof of its document storage facility in Windsor.

The panels will produce 313,760 kilowatt hours per year, enough to power 33 homes, the company said.

Iron Mountain said last year that it plans to also put solar panels atop a neighboring building in Windsor.

Cleanenergyauthority.com reported last year that SunEdison will own and operate the Iron Mountain systems, while Iron Mountain will purchase the power from the utility at a 20-year fixed price.

SunEdison was one of several companies to win multiple contracts in the first year of Connecticut’s 21-year, $1-billion Zero Emissions Renewable Energy Credit program (ZREC). There were 97 contracts awarded in the first year and this summer, the state selected 145 projects for the second year.
