An Irish digital-camera maker with sales operations in South Windsor has acquired a pair of U.S. laser-imaging companies for $5 million in cash and stock.
Andor Technology plc says it will manage sales operations of Photonic Instruments Inc. and its affiliate, Imaginitive Optics Inc., from its Windsor sales base. The companies’ U.S. manufacturing will move within a year to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where Andor is based.
Photonic, with operations in Beverly, Mass., and St. Charles, Ill., makes laser and lamp-based systems. It reported 2009 revenues of $3 million and an operating profit of $800,000.
Andor, with about 248 employees, makes cameras used in the scientific field, among others.
