Rick Iovanne, who manages People’s United Bank’s Waterbury region office, is adding oversight of its Hartford commercial-banking region to his sphere of responsibility.
The $36 billion-asset Bridgeport regional lender announced Friday Iovanne’s appointment to senior vice president and market manager for middle market commercial banking.
The announcement came a day after Pittsfield, Mass., lender Berkshire Bank disclosed its hiring of former People’s United executive Peter Samson in Hartford to run Berkshire’s Hartford banking region. Samson’s predecessor at $5 billion-asset Berkshire, Sheryl McQuade, earlier this year joined United Bank in Glastonbury.
Before his promotion, Iovanne was the Waterbury region manager for People’s United. The 25-year banking veteran has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Boston College. He began his career at former Bank of New Haven, now Citizens Bank.
He also spent four years as a commercial loan officer at Webster Bank, before joining People’s United in 1998 in New Haven.
