After deploying video teller ATM service at its Wallingford branch several years ago, Naugatuck lender Ion Bank said it has expanded the service to branches in Oxford and Waterbury.
Using technology from Georgia-based NCR, Ion’s ATMs offer customers the option to pick up a handset and interact with a live Ion teller — housed in Naugatuck — through the ATM’s video screen.
NCR pitches the service as a way to reduce teller costs and offer extended hours and a personal touch to customers. Ion is offering remote teller service from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the week and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, for a total addition of 27 hours per week.
The service also offers customers more options than can be accessed through a standard ATM transaction, including transactions without an ATM card, and withdrawing cash over the daily limits.
