Ion Bank has opened a new branch in South Windsor, its third branch in Hartford County.
The new branch at 1751 Ellington Road is the bank’s 20th overall and the furthest geographically from its main Naugatuck branch.
“This is an exciting opportunity to bring a true community bank to South Windsor,” David Rotatori, president and CEO of Ion Bank, said in a statement. “As a mutual bank, we do what is in the best interest of our customers and the communities we serve.”
The bank will have a personal teller machine — an ATM with a video component that allows a customer to speak live with a teller. It will be available weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays until 3 p.m.
Ion joins a host of smaller community banks expanding into Hartford County.
Ion Bank, the former Naugatuck Savings Bank, dates to 1870. As of June 30, 2021, its total assets were $1.77 billion, up from $1.62 billion one year earlier. Its total deposits as of June 30, 2021 were $1.63 billion, also up from $1.5 billion in June 2020.
