Guilford-based bioscience company InveniAI launched a new tool last week that incorporates GPT-4 by OpenAI, the artificial intelligence behind the ChatGPT chatbot.
The new tool, called ChatAlphaMeld, is designed to give answers and insights for drug and target discovery by integrating pharmacology with biology, according to InveniAI.
InveniAI CEO Krishnan Nandabalan said, “We continue to evaluate powerful open AI platforms like GPT-4 to address innovation bottlenecks and accelerate drug discovery to expeditiously develop solutions for patients eagerly awaiting efficacious treatment options.”
ChatAlphaMeld is integrated into InveniAI’s AlphaMeld platform and only answers queries related to biopharma, the company said. The public can access ChatAlphaMeld for a limited time by signing up at alphameld.com.
The new tool highlights direct and indirect associations between genes, targets, pathways, biomarkers, drugs, diseases and symptoms. Within the context of AlphaMeld, the tool can help generate hypotheses and prioritize drug programs, according to InveniAI.
AlphaMeld’s proprietary database includes information on 49,000 drugs, 20,000 genes, 30,000 disease and symptoms, 73,000 expression datasets, 1,400 cell types, 483,000 clinical events and more than a billion scientific literature sentences.
InveniAI, a technology spinout of New Haven biotech BioXcel Therapeutics, announced last June that it hit a major milestone in its collaboration with a Japanese drug company, resulting in a milestone payment as part of a collaboration deal between the firms.
