InterCommunity Health Care CEO Beauregard to retire; COO to succeed her

East Hartford-based InterCommunity Health Care said Monday that Kimberly Beauregard, its president and chief executive officer, will retire next spring.

Beauregard is stepping down after more than two decades of leading the organization she helped transform into one of the region’s most comprehensive community health providers that offers primary care, behavioral health and addiction recovery services.

Beauregard, who has led the center since 2003, will step down April 1, but will continue as a special advisor through June 30.

The board said it has appointed Chief Operating Officer Tyler Booth to succeed her.

When Beauregard was hired, InterCommunity was a financially unstable agency with a limited scope of services. Over 22 years, she guided the organization through significant expansion, growing its reach from a few hundred adult patients to more than 7,000 people annually.

InterCommunity now operates 21 locations, including 11 school-based health centers, and employs about 400 people. In fiscal year 2024, the nonprofit care provider reported $47.5 million in revenue and a $4.9 million surplus, according to its 990 tax form.

Booth, a Trinity College graduate with a master’s degree from the Simmons School of Social Work, has more than 25 years of leadership experience and more than 30 years as a clinician. He joined InterCommunity in 2006 and has served as COO since 2010, overseeing operations across 48 programs and 21 sites.

During his tenure, InterCommunity reduced grant dependence by 300%, increased third-party revenue more than 100-fold, and became Connecticut’s only FQHC also designated as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center, the organization said.

“The Board conducted a rigorous vetting process, and we are thrilled with Tyler’s appointment,” said Bill Young, vice chair of the board. “He brings a rare combination of clinical expertise, business leadership, and proven success managing high-performing teams.”
