Symetra Life Insurance Co. said it will boost its group life insurance business by expanding efforts at its South Windsor division headquarters, the Puget (Wash.) Sound Business Journal reports.
According to Bellevue, Wash.-based Symetra, it “expects to increase its presence in the Greater Hartford area in connection with this growth initiative. More information about job opportunities in Symetra’s group life operation will be posted soon.”
Symetra CEO Tom Marra said the company already offers group life and disability income insurance products but the new effort will “drive long-term growth in this product area.”
Marra left his job last spring as president and chief operating officer of Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. to run Symetra.
“We see terrific growth potential for group life insurance in the underserved mid-sized employer market,” Marra said in a statement.
Donald Canfield was named director of the Group Life and Disability Underwriting division in South Windsor, where some 60 employees are based, the insurer says.
