Insurer buys Meriden office building for new HQ

A family-owned insurance and financial services firm in Meriden plans to relocate in the city after buying a 16,000-square-foot office building on Research Parkway for $700,000, land records show.

Bongiovanni Insurance & Financial LLC in recent weeks acquired the two-story building at 130 Research Parkway from owner Michael D. Barker, principal of 124-130 Research Parkway LLC.

The insurance and financial services group, founded in 1987 by Terry D. Bongiovanni, plans to occupy 7,000 square feet of vacant space at the property, according to North Haven’s Pearce Real Estate, which represented the seller. The buyer was represented by Robert C. White & Co.

Bongiovanni Insurance & Financial is currently located at 107 East Main St. The firm specializes in employee benefits, business insurance and retirement plans for small- to midsize companies. It also provides Medicare coverage, individual insurance, auto/home insurance and financial planning services, according to its website.

Built in 1983, the Class C office building is also home to the Wheeler Clinic, United Public Service Employees Union and Frank Pepe Development, Pearce said.
