Insurance Capital Summit kicks off in Hartford Tuesday

The 2022 Insurance Capital Summit is Tuesday at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

The event was set to kickoff at 8:30 a.m. with welcome introductions from Susan Winkler, vice president and executive director of the Connecticut Insurance and Financial Services; Insurance Department Commissioner Andrew Mais; Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner David Lehman; and Gov. Ned Lamont.

The keynote presentation at 9 a.m. features David Robinson, executive vice president and general counsel of The Hartford, and Ross Bernstein, best-selling author and creator of “The Champion’s Code: Building Relationships Through Life Lessons of Integrity and Accountability from the Sports World to the Business World.”

The daylong event continues with a keynote panel at 10 a.m., including Greg Toczydlowski, president business insurance, Travelers; Matt Gaschel, chief of staff to the chief insurance officer, Amazon; Anita Sathe, U.S. & Global Bluestream Affinity Leader, Marsh & McLennan Companies; and David Summers, group CEO, Simply Business.

There will be a panel discussion, “Innovation & Data – Future of Insurance,” at 11 a.m. featuring Jim Bedard, CFO of mergers and acquisitions and advanced analytics, UnitedHealthcare; Rohit Puranik, global head – insurance partnerships, alliance and mergers and acquisitions, Infosys; Mindi Work, senior vice president and chief of strategy, Symetra and Steven Abel, managing director, EPAM.

It will be followed by remarks from PwC’s Paul Veronneau, partner and Hartford advisory leader, at 11:45 a.m.

There will be breakout sessions after lunch and another panel discussion in the afternoon, “Shifting Talent Attraction Strategies: What You Need to Know.”

Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin will speak at 4 p.m. After that, there will be a cocktail reception in the atrium.

The cost is $400 for in-person attendees, $50 for virtual replays and there is no charge for “future talent,” defined as current graduate and undergraduate students as well as those who have graduated within the past two calendar years.
