Innovation Corridor opens at UConn

The state’s Innovation Ecosystem program on Wednesday opened its Eastern Connecticut Innovation Corridor at the Storrs and Avery Point campuses of the University of Connecticut to give young companies resources to grow.

The corridor will be one of four innovation hubs under the Innovation Ecosystem program, designed to foster startup companies and young small companies. The other facilities are in Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford.

The UConn corridor will connect firms with various initiatives and opportunities designed to grow the business. The initiatives include laboratory space, accelerator programs, local events, and support from mentors.

The corridor’s first facility, the Innovation Partnership Building, will give 125,000 square feet of facilities to support research and development with business partners. The hub plans to use the life-science knowledge and expertise in the New London-Groton area to spur economic growth.
