ING issues $5B in Dutch-backed bonds

ING Group NV, which has major operations in Hartford, said today it has issued $5 billion in bonds guaranteed by the Dutch government.

The Amsterdam-based financial services company had announced in January plans to issue bonds. The 5-year notes issued today pay 3.375 percent interest and are given top ratings by credit agencies.

ING reported earlier this week a fourth quarter loss of $3.9 billion and said its tier 1 capital ratio – the most widely used measure of a bank’s solvency – was 9.3 percent at year end. (AP)
