Indoor sports complex to open in Middletown

A new indoor sports complex will open on Jan. 14 in Middletown.

Advanced SportsPlex & Training Center, LLC announced Friday its plans to open a 38,000 sq. ft. facility at 1280 Newfield St. The complex features a 20,000-square-foot turf field; a 10,000-square-foot turf training field with two retractable batting cages; and a 40-yard indoor track. Everything is indoor.

Partners Glenn Rowland and Gary Sekorski leased the space from Mohawk Manufacturing and pumped $550,000 into renovating the facility for sports use. Rowland and Sekorski are both from Rocky Hill and former coaches of youth and high school baseball and basketball teams there.

The duo will host an open house at the facility Jan. 20.

Advanced SportsPlex also plans to rent out of the facility for corporate and private events. The complex has a café, concession area, two conference/party rooms and Wi-Fi.
