Income shrinks at Enfield S&L

Quarterly income fell by 37 percent to $196,000 at New England Bancshares Inc., the holding company for Enfield Federal Savings and Loan Association, down from $313,000 in the comparable quarter last year. Earnings per share and diluted share were 4 cents, down from 6 cents in the year ago quarter. Total assets grew to $284.2 million, up $26.4 million from a year ago. Total deposits grew to $181.7 million, up from $169 million in the same quarter last year. Enfield Federal has branches in Enfield, Manchester, Suffield, East Windsor, Ellington and Windsor Locks.
