Impact challenge opens for entrepreneurs, start-ups

The application process for the 2016 Impact Challenge run by Hartford-based reSET has commenced, with a prize purse valued at $100,000.

Now in its sixth year, the competition is open to early-stage entrepreneurs and start-ups from all industries, which operate or have operations in New England, and whose business or business concept is designed to create a positive social and/or environmental impact. It’s open to any start-up based in New England.

Applications close June 1 and honorees will be notified by late August.

After a three-level application process, honorees chosen by an expert jury will receive, in total, unrestricted seed capital and expert professional services valued at $100,000.

“The purpose of the reSET Impact Challenge is to award funding and to bring regional attention to the most innovative, impactful, and viable start-up social ventures,” said Benjamin Simmons-Telep, programs manager at reSET. “And, we’re equally committed to providing feedback at every level of the application process so participants’ businesses benefit regardless of whether they make it to the final round.”
