Hubbell profits up 11 percent

Shelton electrical and power products manufacturer Hubbell Inc. booked a 6 percent gain in third-quarter sales and an 11 percent increase in profits.

Revenue was $835.9 million, up from $789.7 million in the third quarter last year. Profits were $97.2 million.

CEO David G. Nord said in a statement that the sales gains were largely due to acquisitions as well as several select areas in Hubbell’s electrical segment.

Nord said there was a demand uptick in non-residential construction markets and in its industrial markets, while demand from the utility sector was lower than last year.
